Martin Brown is a London-born artist and designer now based in Barcelona. His work blends geometric abstraction, Mediterranean light and architectural rhythm, drawing on a richly varied creative career spanning textiles, fashion, interior design, mosaics and photography.
Brown worked internationally across London, Paris, New York, Mexico, Japan and Switzerland, developing custom mosaic pieces for residential and commercial clients — including tables, mirrors, murals and architectural installations. This practice deepened his relationship with pattern, structure and colour, qualities that directly inform his current painting style.
Alongside his design work, Brown established himself as a respected professional photographer, refining his eye for composition, balance and atmosphere — elements that are clearly visible in his paintings.
Working primarily in gouache on 300gsm Arches paper, Brown creates contemporary landscapes and still lifes inspired by architecture, travel and memory. His paintings translate coastal paths, hillside villages, courtyards and still-life arrangements into simplified geometric planes, atmospheric colour and a distinct modernist sensibility.
He now lives and works in Barcelona, where Mediterranean colour, light and architecture continue to shape his evolving visual language.
